SES AMERICOM and Home2US ink agreement to broaden delivery of popular TV programming from around the world to growing ethnic audiences

Home2US adds widely viewed Asian and African TV networks to growing platform

PRINCETON, N.J. and HERNDON, Va. – April 9, 2007 – Focused on quenching growing demand for homegrown television among burgeoning immigrant and ethnic audiences across North America, SES AMERICOM and Home2US today announced a joint marketing agreement to deliver popular international programming to more viewers across a variety of media.

The agreement brings together Home2US, the fastest-growing Direct to Home (DTH) international content provider in the U.S., with America’s premier IPTV distribution system, IP PRIME®, capable of delivering hundreds of standard and high-definition television channels to any screen on any media platform. As part of the alliance, the companies also announced the addition of the Korean News Network, YTN, the Ethiopian TV Network, and Kenya Live TV to the Home2US lineup, which is currently delivered to ethnic DTH audiences over SES AMERICOM’s AMC-4 satellite.

“By marketing the Home2US international content on IP PRIME, the popular news and entertainment shows of distant homelands can be enjoyed by millions of immigrants and ethnic audiences in the U.S. on a wide range of new and innovative technologies,” explains Bill Squadron, senior vice president of media partnerships for SES AMERICOM. “Our IP PRIME infrastructure will allow content providers to reach their consumers wherever they are, with quality, reliability and rights protection.”

“Home2US has built its business of delivering popular international programming to diverse ethnic audiences in the U.S. aboard SES AMERICOM’s reliable and secure AMC-4 satellite,” said Emrah Ozkan, president and CEO of Home2US, which now offers 40 international television and radio channels and networks throughout North America. “IP PRIME now enables us to broaden our reach across multiple distribution channels with a growing lineup of the best content from around the world.”

The fully-managed IP PRIME solution brings together the world’s leading IPTV components and technology partners—including Cisco, Globecomm, Harmonic, Amino, NDS, International Data Corporation, Scientific-Atlanta and Siemens—creating an end-to-end service with encoding, middleware, scrambling/descrambling, content protection, satellite receivers, conditional access, next generation network innovations, set top boxes, service management and integration services. IP PRIME content originates from the IP PRIME IPTV Broadcast Center based in Vernon Valley, New Jersey, where video and audio programming is received, prepared, and securely delivered via AMC-9 to authorized users.

More than 40 television programmers and networks representing over 350 channels have signed IP PRIME transport agreements to date, marking the programming community’s overwhelming approval of the secure IPTV service. Currently providing beta trial service to telcos of all sizes throughout the country, IP PRIME is set for commercial deployment this spring. The National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC), which supports rural utilities offering services to millions of U.S. households, is in the advanced stages of end-to-end IP PRIME field trials in four states.
